Meet Your Maker is the prologue to Prototype 2. It also serves as the tutorial for basic control.

With a Vengeance

James Heller is serving on another patrol mission in the Red Zone of NYZ listening to the other Marines gripe about the suicidal nature of patrolling the Red Zone when their APC blares caution alarms before being hit with a flying car chasis. It flips the APC, rendering it a rolling fireball before Heller's vision turns to black. When Heller wakes up, all of the squad lay dead and a radio check comes in on a dead soldier's radio. As he scans the area, Alex Mercer lands nearby. As Mercer searches the area, flipping over the APC with extreme force to the point of launching it tens of feet into the air before crashing down behind Heller. While Alex Mercer examines the bodies, Heller confirms Mercer's Whatabouts to command that notifies Red Crown, when ordered to "Do not persue Mercer" he whips out his combat knife, charges Mercer when his back is turned, and slits his throat... which has no effect. As Heller recovers, Mercer taunts him from afar. Heller follows him deeper into the Red Zone, where he sees Alex walk past wounded soldier crying for help. When Heller approaches, a brawler Leaps into view and devours the soldier, James Heller Let's out a war cry and attempts to confront the infected but loses them. Later on, a Blackwatch helicopter halts him, but is destroyed by Mercer. Soon after, Heller challenges Mercer to a duel. But, before anything happens, Heller is confronted by a monstrous Infected (A goliath). He runs to a nearby ruined building, and escapes the monster. Suddenly, he is pounced on by a smaller, but deadly Infected (A.K.A a Brawler), but is able to kill it. As he recovers, he whips around to see Mercer. He charges him again, but Mercer pins him to the wall, then stabs him with his Claw, and leaves Heller to suffer.

The Test

As Heller lays in pain, a helicopter picks him up and carries him to the Yellow Zone, where he is poked and prodded by Gentek scientists, under the supervision of Blackwatch commander Colonel Rooks. As Dr. Koenig opposes Heller's demise by Lt. Riley, he muses that it is time for a little test.
