prototype

Here on the Prototype wiki we aim to add information related to the game.

Examples

A few examples explaining the common mistakes done by new editors.

Article: Claws

Since a wiki is like an encyclopedia of a game, doesn't mean that all in-game information is relevant for an article.

Relevant Information:

 Groundspike

An upgrade to the claws, Mercer tunnels biomass through the ground to erupt and impale his target.

This information explains that the Groundspike is part of the Claws power and also explains how the character uses it.

Irrelevant Information:

 Groundspike

Part of Claws. By pressing or holding the Y button, you shift and tunnel biomass through the ground to erupt and impale the target. The size and power of the spikes depends on how long the button is held down.

Now, anyone who has played the game knows how the actions are done in-game by the player and this kind of sentencing will make the article appear as a game guide (which can be found abundantly on the net).

Opinion Example

A lot of new editors try to add information favored or thought by them. Some even add their "Opinions" about a particular information.

Article: Marines

Revelant writing

When a Prototype is disguised as a high ranking officer and bumps into one of the soldiers, they will usually say things such as,"Ready to fight, sir!" or "Semper Fi, Captain." and such.

Irrelevant writing

If you are a high ranking officer and bump them, they will usually say things such as,"Ready to fight, sir!" or (my personal favorite), "Semper Fi, Captain." and such.

Repetition

Repetition is the act of writing what is said on an article again, but in a different manner or location. This isn't as important as relevancy, but conjures the same consequences, your writing gets removed and you anger the wiki users.

Article: Alex Mercer

From the quote of the article;

{{quote|Mercer is an "IT" not "HE".|General Randall regarding Mercer.}}

Trivia

General Randall regards Alex as an "it", and became irritated when Captain Cross referred to Alex as a "he".

As you may notice the information is already written, that Mercer was considered an it. Then why write the same fact in the trivia?

It is completely useless.

All examples are taken from the articles related to them and have already been reverted.
